Are you looking for a financial advisor you can trust? Are you looking for an advisor whose first priority is to limit losses, followed by growth? Are you looking for an advisor who has a logical and organized approach to managing your retirement nest-egg? If so, there’s a possibility we could be a good fit. Before contacting me please read the short description of my typical client, and how I work. If you think there’s a possibility we’d be a good fit then feel free to get in touch by phone or email for a complimentary, no obligation initial telephone consultation.
I’ve been very fortunate to have a great group of clients for many years. While each client has different goals and tolerances for risk, they generally share the following characteristics.
- Either retired or within 20 years of retirement.
- Conservative-minded investors who place a higher value on limiting losses than on generating maximum returns.
- Long term investors who are patient and understand that there are times when cash may be a better position than being in the market.
About Me and How I work:
I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER(TM) Certificant and a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor. I am licensed as an Investment Advisor Representative, and my company is a State of Texas Registered Investment Advisory firm. While these licenses don’t confer any special expertise, they assuredly define and require my role as a Fiduciary. This means I must put my clients interests above my own in all recommendations I make. Your alternative in the marketplace is a non-fiduciary representative who is required to simply determine if an investment is suitable.
I am also licensed in the State of Texas as a life and health insurance agent. When appropriate, I earn commissions from the sale and placement of insurance products, which may present a conflict of interest. However, you will always know how I am compensated, and in the end you will make the decision to accept recommendations made. Having the resources to recommend guaranteed products along with market-based solutions can work to provide balance and tax advantages not found in other financial vehicles.
If appropriate, I will prepare for you an investment management plan that is geared towards your unique financial goals and objectives. In building these plans, we will consider your circumstances, goals, desires, and risk tolerance regarding retirement, wealth transfer, and asset protection.
I communicate with clients in person, via email and by phone, and I am available for my clients whenever there may be a question. Client meetings may be in person, or through the Internet, using the latest communication tools such as Skype, and screen-sharing programs. With these technological tools, I am able to serve clients who do not live near to my office.
If your desire is to visit frequently via phone about the market, then we may not be a good fit. I do accept telephone appointments, especially when a clearly communicated objective is at hand.
All clients have 24/7 secure online access to their accounts, and I do not act as a custodian of client funds. You will receive electronic or paper statements from a separate custodian of your account.
You may wish to begin with a financial plan, which unless it is overly complicated, should range from $600 to $1,000. There is no charge for the plan if it is implemented by my firm, or if you are not completely satisfied with the plan. On an ongoing basis, I charge based on the amount of assets under management – or on a flat-fee for 401(k) basic menu options, and work to keep the fees as low as possible. I will be happy to provide an estimate based on your needs and situation. Just use the Contact Form on the About Me page to contact me. You will not pay anything for insurance products, since there is separate compensation for that.
I am not a custodian of your account, so when I manage accounts it is done so with an independent custodian and I never have custody of client assets. This is important as it protects you from fraud and theft. Most of my clients assets are held with TD Ameritrade, and I can work with other custodians if you prefer.
I offer an organized and logical approach to managing client assets, with a focus on risk management.
Since the year 2000, we have had two major market declines. The first was a decline of almost 50%, and the second was almost 57%. Further, because we have been in a secular bull market since 2000, I believe there is a good possibility that there will be another major market decline in the months or years to come. When or if this will happen, no one knows. Therefore, I believe it is important to preserve assets when markets decline, due to the increased amount (in terms of percent) that is needed to recover from a decline – and is even more important if you are taking income from your nest-egg.
I also offer guaranteed and insured products for those who have a desire to: reduce market risk; create guaranteed lifetime income streams; and create tax-free income for retirement. A mix of these strategies is right for some clients, while a singular solution is right for others.
I feel it is important that I and my clients work as a team. I feel it is my duty and obligation to provide information – to point out the pros and cons about a product or strategy, and let the client make the decision. I will work hard to earn and keep your trust.
